Tactile maps

There are around two million people in the UK with significant sight loss and millions more who struggle with standard print and signage. It is predicted that by 2020 the number of people with sight loss will rise to over 2,250,000. By 2050, this number will double to nearly four million. Almost half of blind and partially sighted people feel ‘moderately’ or ‘completely’ cut off from people and things around them. Our tactile and 3D maps are designed to enable visitors/customers to know what facilities they can find within a building or an outdoor space. Our services are intended for use by totally blind, partially sighted and sighted people as they can be read by touch and by sight. Because most visually impaired individuals don’t live on their own it is essential for us to produce a navigation and information system that can be understood, used by all and shared between members of a family or group of friends.
